What Is Intrapersonal Communication?
Definition: The communication one has with self. Self-to-self-communication. The self is the sender & receiver of messages and ideas in this form of communication. This is the dialogue one has in their mind.

Why is awareness of Intrapersonal communication important?
- Allows one to know the vocabulary and definition of what talking to yourself is. Gives one more awareness of what thoughts one accepts in their mind.
- This also gives one more awareness of how one's thoughts make one's body and emotions react.
- This kind of awareness will help narrow down what crowd of people is compatible with you. You will be able to pinpoint bad thoughts much faster than you direct them toward yourself.
- You will be much more aware of triggers, things that cause such thoughts to even create in the first place.
- You will be able to create positive trigger words for yourself, with long enough observation of your body you'll be able to give yourself positive trigger words that make your emotions react positively leading to beneficial actions and impactful results.
- It influences the actions we make. People who affirm their capabilities, strenghts, and good wualities peform better than those who oppress themselves with negative self-dialogue.
- It influences our communication with others. Negative or postive intrapersonal communication affects our communication with others.
The three types of intrepersonal communication
Self Talk:
- Self talk is the way one talks to them self. Many may not be aware of what thoughts are causing them to feel such way.
- This inner voice combines concious thoughts with inner beliefs.
- When having negative thoughts, try to pinpoint the trigger and go into depth on why that even is a trigger in the first place.
Figure out what methods best work for you to over come negative thoughts.
- The way one talks to one self will reflect upon feelings and actions.

Self Concept:
- Self-concept is how you perceive yourself.
- It includes everything you think and feel about yourself.
- It is the way one apprasises self.
- In simple words, this is how you see yourself and how you believe others see you as as well.
- It is the way defines one self and what qualities they belive attributes to oneself.
- Example: "I am hardworking so i can maintain this job"
- Factors influencing one's self concept include interactions with others and their reaction to us, the enviroment, experiences, self-evaulation, self expectations, others expecations of you, roles you peform, and the way people picture you.
- How ever you picture yourself, others will see you in the same way. You will tend to carry yourself according to how you see yourself.

Self-Esteem:
- Refers to the feelings and attitude you have about yourself, including how you value yourself.
- Example: "Earning this scholarship makes me feel good"

Self Love:
- This form of communication is spoken through a lens of self worth.
- Accepting one for who they are and understanding one is as worthy now as they are their future version of themself.
- Self love is knowing what thoguhts make you react happy emotionally then from there leads to actions and results.
- The results created from self love are geuinune and honest, people will be able to sense the level of self love you have within youself through your actions.
- If this is a bit to hard to adapt too, try writting in your journal questions that reel out answers about you that brining deeper understanding of self.
- Try to truly understand what makes you happy on a physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual level.

Diffrent ways of executing intrapersonal communication:
- Writing one's thoughts or observations down
- Making gestures while thinking
- Sense making such as interpreting maps, texts, signs, and symbols
- Interpreting non-verbal communication, like gestures and eye contact
- Communication between body parts "(My arm hurts, my brain is telling me to heal it")
Strategies to improve your intrapersonal communication skills:
- Practicing awareness on the thoughts you have.
- Whenever thoughts appear, be wary of what created that thought in the first place.
- Pay attnetion to the way your body responds to your thoughts. What emotions are your thoughts evoking in.
- Being aware of what thoughts you have will make it easier to pinpoint why you do certain actions in the first place.
- Thoughts lead to feelings, feelings lead to actions, series of actions equals ones pefromance.
- Stimulant leads to thoughts, such as an external stimulant like somebody saying something to you. Or it can be an internal stimulant, may over think something about yourself and worry yourself.
- Be aware of the choices you make. Do not focus on what you cant control. Try to leave a postive impact through what you can control, such as the way you express yourself who respond to someone.
- Create methods for yourself that defeat negative thoughts.
- If you are spirtual, prayers will help!
Signs of good Intrapersonal communication skills:
- Your aware of the way you talk to your self
Your aware of how your emotions react to your thoughts
- Your aware of the triggers behind negative thoughts that appear in your mind
- One feels accpeting of how their mind works
- One is able to interpret anothers body langauge and understand how their feeling or what their thinking without them even speaking.
- One envsions themself in a postive way and is accepting of the areas within that have room for improvement
- One has a good value system and views themself as no better or worst than the next, however is aware that every indiviual is unique.
- One is able to take accurate obersvations
- One is able to interpret maps, text, and other things one has to read and eveluate in their head
